Frequently asked questions

What are your check-in and check-out times?

We start checking in from midday. On your departure day you should check out by 11:00 am

What is the latest I can arrive?

Our latest check-in time is 9:30pm. If you are unexpectedly delayed whilst travelling then please call us on 01792 371209 to let us know.

Where are the nearest grocery shops?

We have a small amount of groceries available in our onsite shop.

We sell the essentials such as milk, bread, eggs, bacon, sausages (and black pudding!), and BBQ meats. We also have freshly baked croissants, pain-au-chocolat and organic bread every morning. We also sell a great range of pasties supplied by The Little Welsh Deli – they’re a meal in themselves! However, we can’t compete with the supermarkets so our range of items is limited to the essentials

Knelston Service Station has a well stocked mini market – about 3 miles west of us. Cooperative supermarkets are well represented in Bishopston (5 miles), Mumbles (8 miles) and Killay (7 miles)

Where are the nearest cash machines?

Knelston Service Station has one inside the shop which is only available in business hours for a fee. Free to use machines available 24/7 are in Mumbles and Killay. However, to save you a trip, our shop offers purchase with cashback on debit cards subject to a minimum purchase of just £5

Are you within walking distance of a pub?

The Oxwich Bay Hotel is walkable along the beach but it is a couple of miles (say, 45 minutes), or the King Arthur at Reynoldston (3 miles/1 hour)

I'm coming for the walking. Are there good walks from your site?

Definitely yes. 2012 saw the opening of a continuous 870 mile Wales Coast Path. This includes 51 miles of coastal walks in Swansea Bay, 39 of which constitute the glorious Gower Coast Path. This passes the campsite along our southern boundary. Also, the Gower Way passes the site at the top of Cefn Bryn – the hill immediately behind the Campsite. That path runs from Lliw Valley Reservoir along the backbone of the peninsula to Rhossilli Bay

How easy is it to walk to the beach?

For the able bodied the walk down to the beach is a pleasant one down through the woods and across the dunes. It will take about 10 minutes but probably double that on the way back as its uphill (but we sell drinks and ice-cream to aid recovery). If you are less than able-bodied, or suffer from shortage of breath, then you may find this difficult. Similarly if you have young children with buggies then you will have difficulty with the steps that form the first part of the walk down and last part coming back. We suggest a front or back mounted sling or carrier will help. If the walk is too difficult for you then there are nearby beaches such as Oxwich, Caswell, Langland, etc which have car parks close to the beach

Do you accept dogs at Nicholaston Farm?

Yes, we are pleased to welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs (with well behaved owners) per reservation. We ask that dogs be kept on short lead while on site. We know that dogs leave deposits and so we ask that owners clean them up as well. We also have a dog wash on our caravan field if you wish to wash the sand and mud off before you let them back in to your home-from-home.

Please click this link for further dog information.

Can I request a specific pitch or pitches?

No. Our pitches are unallocated and taken by campers on a first-come first-served basis. If more than one family is coming we are quite happy if the first to arrive reserves a spot for the following family though as long as they are arriving on the same day.

Do all pitches have a sea view?

The Caravan field enjoys great views of the Bristol Channel and to Devon beyond, plus views across Oxwich Bay in some cases. The tent fields also have some sea views but the amount depends on where you choose to pitch.  The shop field has sea views from the higher parts of the field.

I haven't got electric hook-up on my pitch, can I charge my phone/tablet anywhere?

Yes, we have secure charging cabinets which are available 24/7 . Each cabinet has 2 electric sockets enabling you to charge 2 devices at the same time.  You must bring your own plug and charging lead.  The cabinets take a £1 coin but this is returned on collecting your device.

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Yes. We have free Wi-Fi on the entire site so you can get online in your tent or caravan.  If you should have any problems with the Wi-Fi then please let us know or you can contact our provider Camp Connect for support on 01792 277233.

Do you allow BBQ's / firepits / open fires?

BBQ’s and fire pits are allowed as long as they are properly supervised until fully cool, are raised off the grass, and the ash properly disposed of when cold so there is no risk of re-ignition. We do not allow firepits or open fires on the grass.  For previous visitors – we no longer rent out firepits.

We haven't got a fridge. How can I keep my wine and beer (and food sometimes) cold?

Whilst we have free-to-use fridges and freezers for our guests we do not allow alcohol to be stored within them. This is primarily because they are accessible by children under the age of 18. So, we recommend that you bring a cool box/bag with you along with ice-packs which you can freeze in our freezers and then use to keep your drinks cold.

What will I need to connect to your electric hook-up?

If you have requested an electric hook up, you will need to bring your own Electrical Hook Ups (EHU). These are sold complete at most reputable camping outlets and typically between £30-50.

Can I charge my electric car onsite?

We do not currently have electric car charging facilities onsite and we ask that you do not charge your car from the electric hook ups as this may lead to damage to your car.   Please see link below for locally available charging points.
